In "Philosophy under attack: Lawrence Krauss and the new denialism" (
The Conversation), Patrick Stokes sums up the battle, apparently begun when some scientists remarked that philosophy as an endeavor does not contribute to understanding the cosmos. That's what science does, they say.
Almost a year ago, the philosopher Colin McGinn wrote in
The New York Times that if philosophers operate like scientists, why not give philosophy a science name: like
ontics.
I like this "solution". Onticists are scientists too. If a couple of physicists attack onticists, wouldn't that make them anti-science?
