Compromise

'To compromise' holds promise to
communal benefit.

That is a dictum that's held true,
almost like holy writ

in politics of Reps and Dems:
A bargain must be struck,
while singing strained concordant hymns
before they're all lame duck.

But can the snake and mouse agree,
or will the snake just eat
the mouse for lunch just after he
serves tea to him faux-sweet?

  2. You're playing my song--poetry and politics--and while I normally only drink the real and actual earl grey kind of tea, this poem is my cup of the metaphorical variety. Compromise just isn't in the nature of idealogues, except at gunpoint, I think. I don't look for much in the present fiasco.
