The grackle fill November sky

The grackle fill November sky —
I don't know why —
then stain the autumn field with black,
before their own crude yakety-yak
tells them to fly.

I don't know why.

So glad I have called to your Blog tonight. The sound of grackles remains as my memory of a week spent in Austin Texas. Walking downtown for dinner every evening and hearing the grackles who seemed to collect beside the pedestrian crossing points!
Thank you for reminding me with your words....

    Best wishes, Eileen

  2. Beautiful, fun poem! I often wonder what those birds are talking about and thinking... the loud ones, that is. :) I had never heard of a Grackle, but I like the name because it rhymes with my nickname, Rackle. :)
