missing something
I looked for my spirit:
I found it had split.
I looked for my soul:
It went down a black hole.
I looked for humanity:
I saw Sean Hannity.
I pined for some trees:
I found LCDs.
I looked for a shrine:
I found it online.

I like this, it is very clean and strong.
ReplyDeleteSeems your missing quite a few things. I think my shrine is found online too.
ReplyDeleteLove the rhythm and structure. And kudos for the Hannity jab! My favorite line is "I pined for some trees," very clever!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI was thinking Phil, that you are one of the most radical writers I know. The way weave complex ideas and tremendous erudition into such simple forms. And there is never a syllable out of place, they look effortless. But the discipline and the focus on rhyme and meter is, these days, a form of radicalism in writing and and increasingly necessary one. Bravo to you.
ReplyDeleteBlack hole and Sean Hannity says it all.
